    Playroom Final Reveal

Did you hear that?  That’s the sound of me letting out a big sigh that I can check this room off my list!  My original plan was to tackle this room right after the boys bedroom last summer – but truth be told I was pretty burned out and decided to change gears to the living room instead…..and it was actually a blessing in disguise!  My goal was to make this room a place where the boys could feel free to make it their own, but still make sure it fit in with the rest of the house because it’s right off the loft – not tucked into a basement…

    A New Christmas Tradition……

Happy Holidays everyone!  I have been working feverishly on my laundry room for the last two weeks and now that the washer/dryer are FINALLY IN I plan to put on the finishing touches before the New Year and then will share all of that project….BUT FIRST – I wanted to share a special “project” that put together for my oldest son that I’m hoping will turn into a new Christmas tradition at our house. Last year the lead up to Christmas was honestly terrible at our house.  My youngest son was still too little to really get into the holiday spirit beyond just decorating the tree, but my oldest son…

    Happy 5th Birthday Blake!!!

Why does 5 seem so old?  When you actually think about it, knowing somebody for 5 years doesn’t seem like that long a time in the grand scheme of things, but realizing that your baby is now 5 years old is a whole different thing!  All the traces of the little toddler are gone and now my Blake has become an actually kid!  He has best friends and can tell jokes; he is starting to spell and knows how to write; he’s starting to realize his role as a big brother and how to play and protect as one.  The one thing that hasn’t changed is that from every teacher,…

Big Boy Bedroom – The Final Reveal!

No more #SundaySneakPeak’s for this one – officially moving the boys room to the done pile!  I was on a tight deadline to get this room done before Blake’s bday week, and I finished right on time.  I decided just to share a blog of this room all at once instead of breaking it down, so check out the included links if you want to see the step-by-steps for all the projects or feel free to shoot me a msg and I’d be happy to share my method! I pushed myself building-wise with this one and am actually very proud because I think I was able to bring my skill…

    Happy 4th Birthday Blake!!

I am now the mother of a 4 year old – that seems crazy!!!  I didn’t seem like such a big deal until I started to say it out loud, but for some reason the jump from 3 – 4 feels incredibly huge.As I’m sure anyone who has just gone through a Year 3 with their own child will understand, it’s been a year of huge ups, and huge downs – but today and going forward I want to just focus on the ups…so here goes –In the last year you’ve learned how to swim all by yourself;  you’ve learned to play soccer, basketball, and baseball;  you’ve made new friends…

    Happy 3rd Birthday Blake!!

Looking back on the last year, it seems almost impossible how much has happened to my little monster (oh yeah…we’re REALLLLY into monsters now). You learned to talk, go to the potty, sleep in a big boy bed, and started to do things “all by yourself”You became a big brother, moved into a new house, and started at a new schoolThrough all of the ups and downs, and tantrums, and muddy footprints tracked through the house…..I never get tired of being your mom and watching you grow every day!  It’s worth every tough step through the day to feel your good night hugs and kisses and hear you say “Goodnight Mommy”I…

    Blake’s “Bug Food” Party

I asked Blake many many times over the months leading up to his birthday what kind of party he wanted, and almost every time he said a “BugFood” Party (which to Blake means a party that has bugs and lots of food he can snack on) so that’s what we rolled with.  He spent about 98.9% of the time in the blow up pool, so I’m not sure how much Bug or Food he took in, but here’s some of my favorite things I put together for his 3rd birthday. It took me a while to come up with the invite, but one day while reading GOB’s squishy “Hungry Hungry…

Craft Time with Blake: Mother’s Day Frames

One of my new year’s resolutions (which I made in April…whatever it’s been a busy new year) was to do more craft projects with the kids, so me and Blake kicked things off with some Mother’s Day projects.  I was able to get a very cute picture of the boys together (by promising Blake a lollipop if he took it) so I thought it’d make a perfect Mother’s Day Gift.  I found 4 of these plain MDF frames at Michaels for $1.50 each, so off we went I wanted to make these white to have a backdrop for Blake to paint on, and I probably could’ve just primed/painted them really…

Does a bird live in it yet?

That’s the question Blake asked me every 30 seconds while we made this craft….he’s really excited for a bird to live in this little birdhouse we made together, but for now it’s sitting next his Babba Fett alarm clock and dinosaur nightlight on the shelves in his room. I found this little wood birdhouse for $3 in the Target “OneSpot” section and gave it to him for Easter.  He was really looking forward to painting it (and so was I).  I was going to have him just paint the raw wood, but thought if I gave it a base coat of paint it would turn into something really cute to…

    Blake’s 2nd Bday Party

Thanks to everyone who came out to help celebrate Blake’s 2nd bday.  So glad that the weather held out for us!  I love seeing all the kids enjoy playing together each year and I know that Blake had an amazing time, which is all I can ever ask for.
