    June Round Up

How is it time to write another monthly round up already!! If you told me that the universe somehow stole a week out of June I would believe you. I spent most of the month working on two large builds for two very special families – but I someone managed to forget to take pictures of either one (don’t worry, I will grab them soon!)  Only one blog post this month but if you missed my Father’s Day table and menu make sure to check it out: Our Favorite Father’s Day Dinner More Outdoor Progress     We are slowly starting to make progress on both the front and backyard…

Window Trim and Curtains – Tips and How To (It’s a long one!)

Happy New Year Everyone!  I can’t believe that it’s been two months since I finished the laundry room.  To be honest, between that project and the holidays I didn’t start the New Year off to a roaring start but took some much needed downtime to re-charge and finish up some necessary but boring tasks around here – which weren’t blog worthy but felt really good to finally check off the list!  I did take the time to fit in one bigger project and finished framing the windows in my morning room and added some new curtains so instead of just sharing the finished product I thought it might be helpful…

    Flowers for Josephine

So since I have absolutely nothing else going on (do you hear the sarcasm?) I decided to take on one of the largest crotchet projects I’ve ever tried for my niece’s 2nd birthday.  Why you ask – well 1) I wanted to make her something special to celebrate her becoming such a big girl and 2) because I’m just plain crazy. I’ve had a few really cute things pinned to my crotchet board for a long time, so I took a second to browse and immediately knew that I wanted to make her this blanket because she just got her new big girl bed.So 2 1/2 weeks, 6 skeins of…

    Spread the LOVE

Happy Valentine’s Day Everyone!! I was going to get a December/January round-up blog posted first (cross my fingers that I get to that tomorrow) but thought it would be more fun to share what me and the monster’s have been up to for Valentine’s Day First. Valentine’s Day Dessert – Chocolate Mousse with Puffed Pastry Hearts I found this really easy idea on Pinterest to just take a toilet paper roll and turn it into a heart stamp with a simple piece of scotch tape – easy peasy right!   I bought some pre-cut hearts and gave the boys some pink, purple and red paint and thought this would be the…

    Thanksgiving Craft time with Blake

Getting this one up before I have a chance to forget!  Since it’s been way too cold to go anywhere, Blake and I took Tuesday to work on our Thanksgiving craft (before, you know, Thanksgiving).  I wanted something pretty simple, so I settled on this easy painted tree from Pinterest.  We traced Blake’s arm in the morning, and then he actually was good long enough for me to paint the tree (!!), before he got to fingerpaint the leaves after lunchtime. As you can see, Blake is more of a “march to your own drummer” kinda painter, so it didn’t turn out exactly as I was thinking but hey –…

    GOB’s Big Top Birthday

The rain kinda washed out our plans of setting up a fun, sunny circus in our backyard….but Grayson’s first birthday still turned out being a lot of fun.  I cooked up a big batch of chili to keep everyone nice and warm and we moved the carnival games to the garage.  I didn’t capture as many pics of the day as I would have liked to but here’s a few of our Big Top touches, and of the cutest ring master to take the stage! Was really happy with the invites I whipped up for this one and for the teal/red color scheme All of those empty boxes that had…

    Getting Crafty

A big part of my New Year’s March resolution was to start crafting things again.  It’s been too long since I’ve sunk my teeth into these fun projects and it’s time to start again.  I know it’s not everyone’s thing, but for me it’s a real stress relief and gives me a much needed dose of self-accomplishment.So I’ve set two goals for myself that I got to take for a spin over the last few months:Goal #1:  Start to give people more hand-made presents. My mom saw these cute pottery barn chalk tags in their catalog one day, so I thought – “Hey self, you can probably make those!” and got…

    Blake’s “Bug Food” Party

I asked Blake many many times over the months leading up to his birthday what kind of party he wanted, and almost every time he said a “BugFood” Party (which to Blake means a party that has bugs and lots of food he can snack on) so that’s what we rolled with.  He spent about 98.9% of the time in the blow up pool, so I’m not sure how much Bug or Food he took in, but here’s some of my favorite things I put together for his 3rd birthday. It took me a while to come up with the invite, but one day while reading GOB’s squishy “Hungry Hungry…

    A Tree Grows in Pottstown

One of the hardest things to leave behind when we left Pottstown was our the apple tree in our backyard. We had planted it a few years ago as a memorial to something very dear we had lost, so it held a great amount of sentimental value to us. We had discussed possibly digging it up and attempting to move it with us, but we didn’t want to take the risk that it could die during transport. We also toyed with the idea of taking a sapling and trying to grow a new tree from it, but I have no skills with plants and no idea where to begin doing…

Craft Time with Blake: Mother’s Day Frames

One of my new year’s resolutions (which I made in April…whatever it’s been a busy new year) was to do more craft projects with the kids, so me and Blake kicked things off with some Mother’s Day projects.  I was able to get a very cute picture of the boys together (by promising Blake a lollipop if he took it) so I thought it’d make a perfect Mother’s Day Gift.  I found 4 of these plain MDF frames at Michaels for $1.50 each, so off we went I wanted to make these white to have a backdrop for Blake to paint on, and I probably could’ve just primed/painted them really…
