    August Round Up

The temperature may still be running high around here, but other than that it definitely feels like it is time for Fall to start.  Before we officially say goodbye to summer though I’m looking back at how we wrapped up this incredibly busy time of year.  If you missed any of my blog posts this month you can check them out at the following links: Changing Things Up in the Living Room My Kitchen Favorites   Our Small Summer Getaways     After the absurdity that was the start of 2018, we decided earlier this year that we weren’t going to take a long family vacation this summer and opted…

July Round Up & Morning Room Updates

And somehow we are already through July!  This is our first time experiencing an actual school year for one of our boys so it is our first time experience just how fast summer really does fly by.   I’m shaking things up a little bit this month – since I’ve been really busy with client projects I have been using my little bit of free time to concentrate some updates to one of my favorite rooms in my house – our morning room.  So for my monthly round up I decided to share all of these little, but impactful, changes all in one go! Straightening out the Curtains    …

    May Round Up

Happy Spring Everyone!  You may have noticed that I didn’t share an April Round Up (due to the One Room Challenge craziness) but I’m back this month with lots of updates.  To start, I have added a new subscription button to my website (you can find it in the right hand column) so feel free to sign up to know when a new post is published.   Along those lines, I’m also going to be including a list of my posts from the previous month to my round ups as well so you can catch up on anything you missed – here’s what went down in May: One Room Challenge Week…

    March Round Up

Decorating Easter Cookies with Kids   My nieces unexpectedly slept over the other evening, so I planned for one of my favorite things to do with them – decorate cookies.  I’m not gonna lie, trying to manage 4 kids and a potentially messy situation can get a bit crazy!  But over time I’ve put together a few tricks to make the experience enjoyable for everyone. Make sure that each kid has their own space – I set everyone up at my island and give the two little ones stools so they can reach.  Each kid gets their own plate and their own set of cookies.  I also keep my boys…

    February Round Up

Antique Shopping February brings about one of my favorite yearly traditions – antique shopping with my husband.  The first year we moved into this house he suggested that we take the afternoon of Valentine’s day and go visit the antique store that’s around the corner from our house (and YES – it is both awesome and dangerous to have a huge antique store right around the corner from your house!).  We’ve gone every year since and every year I pick up a few special things.  This year I grabbed some absolutely beautiful pieces for the upcoming front room/dining room makeover.  These two botanical prints were honestly just screaming for me…

    January Round Up

A Quick Entryway Update   With the temperatures outside still pretty frigid I’ve been using the winter to knock some smaller projects off my list, starting with some quick updates to my entryway and hallway.     First off, for those wondering the door color is Sherwin Williams Sensible Hue.  If anyone if thinking of painting the back of their door but doesn’t want anything too colorful I recommend going two shades darker than your wall color.  You will get a high contrast but in a more subtle way.  We had changed out the boob light last year for this beautiful glass and wood pendant I found at HomeGoods, and…

2018 New Year’s Resolutions and Projects

We are kicking off 2018 a few weeks late around here because we had a rough start to this year.  After starting the year not feeling great health-wise, me and my sons were involved in a very scary car accident on the first day back to school.  We are all TOTALLY OK and I am extremely THANKFUL and AMAZED that it wasn’t worse……..but the experience did leave me incredibly sore, tired, and honestly I was in pretty low spirits for a few days. Over the last weekend, though, I started to feel more like myself then I had in a while — as I physically felt better the cloudiness in…

    2017 Hilltown House Round Up

Before I share my resolutions or my upcoming “wish list” for 2018  I wanted to take some time to look back at the progress the house made last year – what can I say, I’m a sucker for nostalgia. This year was CRAZY!!!  I took on a lot and accomplished pretty much everything I wanted to, but in all honesty it was TOO MUCH and it would have been too much without taking on a lot of side projects and officially launching Hilltown House.  But I’m in love with everything I did this year and very proud of myself not only for getting it all done, but also for taking…

    December 2017 Round-Up

24 days of Christmas Kindness This was our second year of forgoing the traditional count down to Christmas and embracing what I have coined our “Acts of Kindness” advent calendar.  You can read all about how this came about in the post I wrote last year, and I am so happy to report that the second year went even better!  I still targeted the idea primarily at my oldest son (next year I hope to be able to fully include the little one) and he is actually sad that the month is almost over and he won’t be getting his special notes from Santa any more.  This time I’m going…

    November 2017 Round Up

When I first started my blog years ago I used to post “Weekly Top Ten” montages of all my favorite things for the week – in the spirit of helping myself focus more on the positive aspects of my life and just generally be a happier person (you can still find them under the Label “Top Ten”…they’re such a fun walk down memory lane!).  In that spirit, I’m trying out something new this week and writing up a short “Round Up” for the month of November.  TBH – A lot of other bloggers do something similar so I’m just jumping on the bandwagon here, but I thought it might be…
